Prayer Beads - Do you use these?

Prayer beads - my post for today.

Thinking about a little 9 year old girl who is a family friend battling brain cancer.  She has had several treatments starting 2 years ago and just found out the tumor is growing again and the dr found 2 more fast growing tumors.  I am sick thinking of this family and the only thing I can think to do is KEEP Praying.  Things happen in the day and I am drawn away from thinking of Gracee, but quickly enough the sadness comes back.  I know there is nothing I can do but pray but there must be more.  I have to leave it in Gods hands and he will direct the path of the Drs. I KNOW this...

Prayer beads or worry beads are used by various cultures such as Anatolian, Ottoman, Turkish, Greek, Middle East, African, Indian and Asian to count the repetitions of prayers, for repetition of the same devotion a number of times, for meditation, protection from negative energy and to relieve stress. Using Prayer Beads as a tool of meditation is as old as human history. It is not a coincidence that Prayer Beads are present in almost every culture. Prayer beads have metaphysical and psychological affects on their users. The beads absorb the negative energies.

"Misbaha, Tasbih, Tasbeeh, prayer beads" are most commonly made of various gemstones, silver, wooden beads, shell, horn etc.
Semi precious stone beads are made of; carnelian agate, amber, amethyst, jet stone, onyx, turquoise, pearl, coral, jade, lapis lazuli, howlite, tiger's eye, jasper, quartz, chalcedony, tanzanite, kyanite etc.
Wooden beads are made of; walnut, ebony tree, rosewood, wenge tree, guayacan tree, olive tree, etc.

Using prayer beads releases the stress that is a result of daily problems, concerns and apprehensions. It is effective for relaxation of human mind and used for meditation purposes. Most have 33 Stones and a tassel.
Agate Prayer Beads -
Agate has a powerful energy. It decreases the tension by creating a warm feeling to the body sections with tension. When you carry agate, it supports the feelings of power, joy and optimism in your body. It also symbolizes the peace in the world.
Amethyst Prayer Beads -  Amethyst increases brain power by absorbing the excess amount of electrical charge. It is believed that amethyst gemstone is good for allergy, headache, eye and hearth diseases. It clears up the negative energies, has a sedative affect. It is also good for people with insomnia problems.
Howlite Turquoise Prayer Beads - Howlite prevents anger, gives comfort and calmness. Effective against stress. It also assists in the digestion of proteins and thus aids digestion. Howlite also helps draw out negative feelings such as envy or anger from a person.
Jade Prayer Beads - It is believed that jade stone ensures a long, lucky life. It balances extraordinary emotions. Helps mental focussing. Gives calmness and confidence when you feel worried. When held in hands, provides relaxation by transmitting heat. Suitable for daily use. It has the power of green color which is has balancing and healing power. Can be used as an accessory by lecturers and teachers.
These are just a few of the stones I looked into.  How to pick?  I would think I would like one with all the stones just in case.
The English word bead derives from the Old English noun bede which means a prayer.  The exact origins of prayer beads remain uncertain, but their earliest use probably traces to Hindu prayers in India
If you read this, please say a quick prayer for Gracee.

Jan 28, 2016 - Gracee underwent surgery yesterday as Drs on Monday found 2 more tumors and had to see what is going on.  Gracee is a strong girls with lots of will.  She is still in the hospital in Burlington, VT and expect to come home Friday.  Dr want her home and to have some fun while they wait for the test results to come in from the tumor so they know how to treat it.  Very sad.   Her family is there with her helping to adjust to the new news.  Prayers are sill needed so thank you so much.
